Elizabeth Weilenman wrote a sympathy message

“Mr. Englert was my science teacher in High School @ Guthrie Center High. But he was so much more than a teacher. He was a friend and a listening ear for kids who just needed to vent or get advice. I wanted to commit suicide around the time he was my teacher. He talked me out of it and helped me learn to always find a silver lining. It is because of Mr. Englert that I am here today. He always knew how to make class fun and was always willing to help. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.”

Brad Nordstrom wrote a sympathy message

“Jason's Family, So deeply saddened to learn of Jason's passing. Jason and I were math colleagues during his time at East Union in Afton. He was a great guy, a great friend and I enjoyed being in his company. What I particularly enjoyed about Jason was his infectious joy. I would like to share on of my favorite quotes with you, "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice." Native American”
