He was predeceased by : his parents, Oscar Carlson and Marie Carlson (Gomer); his wife Marlene; his brother Harold; his brothers-in-law, Glen Sundstrom and Don Greene; his son-in-law Dan Niederhauser; and his nephew Jim Carlson.
He is survived by : his children, Curt Carlson (Christine) of Storm Lake, Cari Niederhauser of Spring Valley and Christy Sangwin (Jeff) of Cherokee; and his sisters, Lillian Sundstrom of Houston, Betty Greene of Des Moines and Margit Behrens (Darrel) of Albert City. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren.
