She was predeceased by: her parents, Arend Tjarks and Viola Tjarks (Radley); her grandparents, Fred and Naomi Tjarks; her siblings, Joyce and Fred Tjarks; her parents-in-law, David and Ruth Kolbe; and her siblings-in-law, Donna Shradle, Shirley Kolbe, Delos Kolbe, Duane Kolbe, Gary Kolbe and Ray Schmidt.
She is survived by: her husband Don Kolbe of Story City; her sons, Kevin Kolbe (Susan Yungclas) of Grinnell and Mike Kolbe (Tammy Kohl) of Harlan; her sister Carolyn Schmidt; her siblings-in-law, Karen Baker (Eric), Janet Kolbe and Jerry Schradle; her granddaughter Emily Kolbe (Ben Cooprider); her great grandchildren, Eloise, Henry, Liz Kolbe (David Walker), Scott Kolbe (Sheena Brunner), Dr. Austin Kolbe (Katelyn) and Lisa Weed (Tanner); Arlo, Kennedy, Hayes, Charlie and Brylee.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 9:30 AM at the St. Petri Lutheran Church (804 Grand Ave, Story City, IA 50248). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bertha Bartlett Public Library 503 Broad St. Story City, IA 50248 or the Story City Elementary program within the Roland-Story Community School District 900 Hillcrest Dr. Story City, IA 50248.
