He was predeceased by : his parents, William Pershing and Edna Olive Zumwalt Ryland; his wife Joan Ryland; and his siblings, James Ryland, Alta Olmstead, Cathleen Johnson and Ruby Ruggles.

He is survived by : his siblings, Billy Joe Ryland of Keokuk, Rebecca Borgen, Sally Ann Ryland, Sharon Page, Janice Ryland and Berneta Wood of Ft. Madison, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
