He was predeceased by: his parents, Harve Stewart and Irene Stewart (Leeper); his son James Stewart; and his siblings, Elona Thompson, Donald Stewart, Leroy Stewart and Patricia Bishop.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Coppess; his children, Debra Remington (Daniel), Johnny Stewart and Daniel Stewart; his grandchildren, Adam Bowman, Amy Peyton, Caleb Stewart, Nash Stewart and Danny Stewart; and his great grandchildren, Avery, Jr. and Mia.
