He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his grandchildren, Linda, Robert and Ezra; his siblings, Edwin Blount (Lucille), Wayne Blount (Rose), Geneva Simeons (Hank), Ruth Ferrel (Gene), Dorothy Hite (Don), Maxine Gegenheimer (George) and Marguerite Kahler (Floyd); and his brother-in-law Doyle Miller.
He is survived by: his children, LaRae Rudin (Steve) of North Liberty, Deborah Grimm (Stan) of Newton, Les Blount (Karen) of Cedar Falls, Chris Blount (Kathi) of Deltona and Robin Darling of Summers, Arkansas; and his sisters, Elaine Means (Larry) and Deloris Miller. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
