He was predeceased by: his brother Bill (Roberta); and his parents, Robert and Helene. He is survived by: his wife Susy; his daughters, Betsy Beck (Paul) and Katherine; and his siblings, David (Robyn), Larry (Linda) and Ann Arbeit (Stuart). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and boundless extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines or the Southern Poverty Law Center.
