He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Schoenig and Eunice Schoenig; and his sister Norma Meyer. He is survived by: his spouses, Christa Babette Boche and Chris Schoenig of Wilton; his children, Richard Backes (Danese), Michelle Perez, Rachel Watkins Schoenig (Christopher) of Chariton, Rebecca Schoenig of Wilton, Craig Boche, Renate Platt and Tanya Hoglund; his brother William Schoenig (Barb) of Muscatine; his grandchildren, Rylee Perez, Kathy Slayden (Tom), Nile Watkins-Schoenig (Jenny), Melissa Holderfield (Michael), Kelly Sproston (Danny), Gabi, Jesse, Grace Watkins-Schoenig and Joshua Fratzke; and his great grandchildren, Emalee, Cooper Slayden, Eva, Ashlynn, Fritz Watkins-Schoenig, Michael Holderfield Jr., Elly Poster, Nathan, Jesse Richard Sproston, Easton and Hudson King. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
