He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard E. Smith and Grace D. Roberts Smith. He is survived by : his former life partners, Barbara Shaw and Charlotte June Abramson Hinton; his wife June Smith of Iona, ID; and his stepsons, Charles Hinton (Dawn) of California, Jeffrey Hinton of Iona and David (Kirsten) of Iona. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
