It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Takumi Kanemasu (Meridian, Idaho), born in Portland, Oregon, who passed away on February 6, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, George Kanemasu and Tomiko Kanemasu; and his daughter Kelley. He is survived by : his wife Ruth; his son Curt (Robin) of Seattle; his grandsons, Alex of Bozeman, MT and Michael (Katie) of Eagle; his great grandchildren, Kaden and Kyler; and his siblings, Edward, Lance and Dani.

In February 1942, the signing of Executive Order 9066 by President Roosevelt meant that Richard, his parents and younger brother Edward, would be required to report for internment.
