He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Coats and Ethel Coats; and his brothers, Roy, Dick, Clyde and Fred.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jeanette, Raymond and Don; his wife Anne; and his children, Ryan Coats (Richelle), Justin Coats (Jodi), Camille Checketts (Stanford), Chris Coats (Karie) and Abbie Anderson (Tristan). He is also survived by twenty grandchildren.
