She was predeceased by : her parents, Hosea Swinford and Velma Irene Beddingfield Swinford; her husband H. Morgan Cothren; her grandson Timothy S. Cothren; her siblings, Maggie Ruth Swinford Posey, Erma Dean Swinford Kerr and Eldridge Swinford; and her stepmother Harriett B. Swinford.

She is survived by : her children, Kathy A. Sanders (Terry) of Edwardsville, IL, Pamela J. Hunter (Raybon) of Fayetteville, TN, Teresa L. Smith (Teddy) of Bunker Hill, IL, Herbert M. Cothren, Jr. of Belvidere, TN and Richard L. Cothren (Angela) of Petersburg, TN; her grandchildren, Richard D. Cothren, Jason Sanders, Greg Watson, Kevin Sanders, Douglas Watson, Haley Cothren Wallace, Lorin Cothren Decker, Matthew Smith and Hanna Smith; and her sisters, Vivian Edwards of Morgan City, AL and Carol Davis of Fayetteville, TN. She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren.
