Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Leland Charles Bernt of Calhoun, Illinois, born in Golden Eagle, Illinois, who passed away at the age of 87, on September 4, 2020. He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Bernt and Mary Bernt (Bain); his wife Second (Jean McCleland); and his son-in-law Ron Dunning. He is survived by: his sisters, Anna Rice and Edna Ryder; his former spouse Pat Darr; his daughters, Carrie Mellen and Barb Dunning (late Ron); his former wife Mary Kaufman; his grandchildren, Daniel Dunning, Sarah Angleton (Eric), Angela Austill (Derek) and Gabriela Mellen; his stepchildren, Vickie, Debbie and Larry; his stepgrandchildren, Marissa, Ashley, Brian and Christina; and also, Andrew, Sean, Blake, Ryley and Piper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID retrictions, a total of twenty-five people will be allowed in the building during the visitation from 9 a. m. until time of service at 11 a. m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf 2521 Edwards St. Alton, IL.
