He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Hankla and Opal Hankla (Williams); his wife Viola Mae Hankla (Clayton); his siblings, Amos Hankla, Robert Wayne Hankla, Harold Dean Hankla and Juanita Daume; his brothers-in-law, William C. "Bill" Bird, Claude Mays, Charles Daume and Verdus Ray Stokes; and his nieces, Brenda Smith and Debra Branagan.
He is survived by: his siblings, Betsie Stokes of Anna and Richard Hankla (Joyce) of Decatur Alabama; his siblings-in-law, Jerrie Clayton of Anna, Vurtis Duckworth (Jim) of Perks, Louise Smith (Art Pender) of Jonesboro and Carolyn Bird of Jonesboro; and his siblings' children, Claudia Williams, Lisa Brown, Cindy Thomas, Tammy Gulley, Becky Rogers, Larry Mays, Darrell Stokes, Robert "Bob" Hankla and Scott Hankla.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Little Grassy Methodist Camp, Hispanic Ministries of Cobden, or Midwest Mission Distribution Center.
