He was predeceased by : his wife Dorothy Ann Effinger (Belz); his son-in-law Daniel Meuleman; and his siblings, Audrey Effinger Dietrich (Bud), William (Juanita), Edward (Norma), Victor (Mary), Robert (Mary Lou), Jack (Bobbie) and James Belz (Fritzie).

He is survived by : his children, Ann Meuleman of Clayton, Linda Munie (Joe) of O'Fallon, Julie Merrill (Todd) of Brentwood, Missouri, Richard Effinger (Trudy O'Malley) of Belleville, Robert Effinger of Caseyville and Kevin Effinger (Ramona Hayden) of Swansea, Illinois; his grandchildren, Charlie (Kate), Eddie (Caroline), Alex, Eric Effinger, Katherine, Joe Effinger, Brendan, Caroline Effinger, Maria Rusboldt (Tyler), Matthew, Craig (Anna), Clare Munie, Paul (Anne), Ben and Annie Merrill; and his great grandchild James Effinger. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
