He was predeceased by : his parents, Francis Smith and Lillian Smith; and his wife Maria Smith. He is survived by : his children, Jacqueline Husain (Arshad), Darrel Smith (Mabel) and Andrea Joseph (Noel); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathan, Emili, Ian, Daniel, Ivan, Samantha, Michelle and Ashley.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Pietryka Funeral Home (5734 W Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL 60639). A Mass was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Hyacinth Basilica (3636 W Wolfram St, Chicago, IL 60618).
