He is survived by: his children, Sandra Chavez (Joel Pena), Kim Martinez and Robert Chavez; his siblings, Juan Vela (late Magdalena), Jesus Vela (Maria), Francis Vela, Refugio Vela, Alejandrina Vega and Bertha Vega; and his grandchildren, Anisa Valdivia, Arianna Pena, Anthony Pena and Angelina Pena. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
