She was predeceased by : her parents, Gabriel Brash and Loma Brash; and her spouse Judge Aubrey Kaplan. She is survived by : her brother Joel Brash (Arlene); her daughters, Jennifer Leopold (Steven Katz), Mary Leopold (Alexander Brown) and Joanne Leopold; her stepdaughters, Emily Rudman (Adam) and Elizabeth Kaplan; her grandchildren, Avery Katz, Olivia Katz, Miles Leopold, Oliver Leopold, Anna Maicon and Gabriel Maicon; her stepgrandchildren, Jared Ruff, Nathanial Ruff, Tallulah Ruff, Tommy Rudman, Shayna Rudman, Maya Rudman and Abby Rudman; and her child Winnetka.

Whether it was starched Madeira linens, patchouli oil from France, a hamburger piled high with Vidalia onions, or happily riding out COVID from her 30th-floor aerie, Carolyn loved it all.

Originally an English school teacher, Carolyn switched gears when she had children and was very proud of her contributions to the community through volunteer work.
