He was predeceased by : his brother James E. Smith; and his parents, Victor H. Smith and Marie E. Smith. He is survived by : his sister-in-law Dorothy I. Smith; his nephew Steven Smith (Kathleen); his niece Catherine Hartsfeld; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Daniel, Brandon, Timothy Smith, Julie, Kevin and Kelly Hartsfeld.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the G. L. Hills Funeral Home, Ltd. (745 Graceland Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60016). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
