Edward Walter Pudlo Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Edward Walter Pudlo (Franklin Park, Illinois), who passed away on December 11, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by : his wife Veronica; and his siblings, Joseph (late Eleanor), Walter, Thaddeus, Stella Grabski (late Tony) and Frank (Adrienne).
In his youth, along with his brothers, Edward contributed to the family business, delivering pickles and other goods throughout Chicago. These early experiences equipped him with an intimate knowledge of Chicago's streets, and he could effortlessly guide anyone through them.
He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1949 with his friends Stan Wenzel and Joe Grembla. And as many at that time did, he served honorably in the Illinois National Guard for 12 years, embodying the values of duty and service to his community and country.
For 25 years, Ed provided invaluable logistics support to A.B. Dick and other organizations, exhibiting his commitment to excellence and hard work. Later in his career, he dedicated a decade of service to Chicago Streets and Sanitation, working diligently to repair the very streets he knew so well, before embracing a well-deserved retirement.
In his spiritual life, Ed served as an usher at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Chicago for many years. His dedication to his faith and his community left a lasting impact on all those who knew him.
Beyond his professional and religious pursuits, he was a man of many passions. Ed found joy in exploring new places, a passion he satisfied through his love of travelling with Veronica. They started by going northeast for their honeymoon, then visited the Ozarks, Hawaii, Arizona, New Orleans and Wisconsin (again and again) among others. His witty sense of humor shone through as he delighted friends and family with jokes and funny stories. A green thumb at heart, he enjoyed tending his garden growing vegetables and flowers.
Lately, perhaps most content when sitting in the warmth of the sunshine, Edward leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and love. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his enduring sense of humor, and the kindness he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
