She was predeceased by : her husband Ned Schechter; her daughter Mindy (late Michael Herman); her parents, Abraham "Orrie" Orenstein and Gladyce Orenstein; and her niece Bonnie Orenstein.

She is survived by : her children, Ronni Frey (Christopher) and Andrew Barnes; her stepchildren, Brian, Robert and Amy Schechter; her brother Stuart Orenstein (Rachel); her nieces, Lisa Whitefield (Mitchell), Abbie Libman (Stephen) and Karen Fierer (Debra Schoenberg); and her daughter-in-law Susan Oliver.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Shalom Memorial Funeral Home (1700 W Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004).
