With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Filimon Phillip Papanikolaou of Chicago, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 9, 2025 at the age of 68. As Filimon departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Filimon may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Filimon leaves behind.
He is survived by: his sons, Konstantinos (Maria Victoria) and Peter (Monica); the mother of his children Antonia; his grandchildren, Mikaela and Mariana; his girlfriend Maria Sklavos; and his siblings, Dimitra Kairis (late Dimitri) and Panagiota Panagiotidou (Christos).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (893 Church Rd, Elmhurst, IL 60126). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Arlington Cemetery (401 E Lake St, Elmhurst, IL 60126).
