She was predeceased by: her parents, Bennie D. Brown, Sr. and Lila A. Pryor Brown; and her son CPT Jean-Pierre Battiste, USAF (Autumn). She is survived by: her sons, retired MAJ André Battiste, Sr., USA of Fort Bragg, NC and Francois Battiste (Shevawn) of Sacramento, CA.; her grandchildren, André Jr., Courtney, Leila, Toussaint, Elaán and Langston; and her brothers, Ben Jr. of Hammond, IN and Andrew Cato of Kankakee, IL. She is also survived by a host of family, friends, sorority sisters and former students.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cage Memorial Chapel (7651 S Jeffery Blvd, Chicago, IL 60649). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
