He was predeceased by: his nephews, Robert Schmidt (Pam) and Paul Schmidt (Arlette); his great-nephew Ian Schmidt; and his brother William Erby Smith (late Marita). He is survived by: his sibling's children, Patricia Salomon, Chris Arvidson (Debra), Krista Buzzell (Lonn), Alex Arvidson, Linda Olsen, Stephen Schmidt (Danuta), James Schmidt (Chris), Carole Schmidt-Spadero (Doug) and Heidi Schmidt; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Peter, Raphael, Matthew, Rebecca, Hannah, Hillary, Juliana, Christopher, Carl, Helen, Fred, Ryan, Connor and Griffin.
