He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred W. Gergen and Eleanor M. Gergen (Gaetke); his siblings, Jimmy, Jerry, Barbara, Bill and Mary Jane; and his mother-in-law Betty.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Mallinckrodt; his children, Teresa Margaret Cipolletta (Massimo) of Chicago and Paul Dietrich Gergen of Chicago; his granddaughters, Margaret Lucia and Eleanor Francesca Cipolletta; his brothers, Fred (Janice), Steve (Lois), Dan (Brandy), Tom (Elizabeth), Ed (Darcie) and George (Barbara); and his siblings-in-law, Annette Gergen, Steve (Pam) and John Mallinckrodt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and his bonus extended family.
