He is survived by: his wife Carrie (Zboch); his daughters, Maya and Piper; his parents, Julian Kopala and Halina Kopala; his parents-in-law, Jerry and Sue Zboch; his sisters, Jessica (Tyler Hanson) and Renee (James Heneghan); his sister-in-law Kelly (Brian Petterson); and his siblings' children, Mary Schmidt, Cora Hanson, Charlie Schmidt and Graham Hanson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Malec & Sons Funeral Home (6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646). Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (7211 W Talcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60631). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at the St Adalbert Catholic Cemetery (6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714).
