He is survived by: his wife Karen Kowal Dempsey; his children, Michael Dempsey and Nicholas Ritacco; his grandchildren, Jacob, Grace, Jackson and Lillian; and his siblings, Julianne "Jan" Largay (late Robert) and John T. "Nick" Dempsey III (Marilyn). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
