He is survived by : his parents, Todd Rutherford and Lynn Rutherford (Fritsche) of Marseilles; his daughters, Katie Cristy, Damona, Mortisha and Novah Rutherford; his stepson Cristipher Gilliam; his brother Kurt Rutherford (Rebecca) of Dover, Delaware; his uncles, Mark Fritsche (Kathy) of Maryland and Keith Rutherford (Sherry) of Ohio; his parents-in-law, Robert and Sherry Mayernik of DeMotte, Indiana; his brother-in-law Brandon Mayernik of Carbondale; and his nieces and nephews, Cortana, Conner and Emmett.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made as gifts in Matthew's memory to the family for their distribution.
