He was predeceased by: his parents, Reeves Childers and Edna Childers (Jones); and his daughter Pam Underwood. He is survived by: his wife Janet McKinney; his daughters, Joyce Bieda (John) of Roselle, IL and Jennifer McAleer (Ted) of Oswego, IL; his grandchildren, Miranda Mock, Matthew Lupton, Kyle Underwood, Blaine Underwood, Olivia McAleer, Ethan McAleer, Jennifer Bieda and John Bieda; and his sister Edna Reed of Chicago, IL.. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorial may be given to the American Heart Association.
