He was predeceased by: his parents, Norbert Kalas and Florence Kalas; and his daughter-in-law Susan Kalas. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Lipke; his sons, Michael Kalas (Gayle), Philip Kalas and James Kalas; his grandchildren, Andy, Nathan, Kyle, Keith and Zak; and his brother Gary Kalas (Jeannie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
