He was predeceased by: his parents, James McDermott and Celina McDermott; and his siblings, Raymond, Evelyn, Francis, Henry, James and John.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park, Banff and Europe; his wife Marilee; his children, Michael McDermott (Jeanne) of Neosho, WI, Pamela Verbic of DeKalb and Peter McDermott (Linda) of Yorkville; his brother Pat McDermott of Orange, CA; his brothers-in-law, Roy Talbot and Larry Talbot of DeKalb; and his niece Sandi Earl. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
