He is survived by: his children, Jose H. Garza Jr. (Barbara Compton Garza), Alejandrina Garza and Cristina Garza Vieau (Christopher T. Vieau); his sister Dorina Soto (Jesus); and his son-in-law Georg Phillips. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Diabetes Association.
