It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thea Groenewold Bakker of Elmhurst, Illinois, who passed away on October 8, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her spouse Gerrit Groenewold; and her siblings, Jannie Van Der (Jelle) and Andy Ferwerda. She is survived by : her children, Jacob Groenewold (Linda), Frank Groenewold (Mary), Carol Van Someren (Andy) and Ken Groenewold (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Jeff (Amy), Justin, Nicholas Groenewold, Sara Barkac (Jason), Emily, Jillian, Gerrit Groenewold, Ryan, Matthew Van Someren, Calvin and Abigail Groenewold; her great grandchildren, Leo, Mason Barkac and Emma Groenewold; her siblings, Sylvia Van Klaveren (late Karl), Flora DeJong (late Ed), Janet Feenstra (late Dick), Ida DeVlugt (Bob), Hilda Tamming (John), John Ferwerda, Garry Ferwerda (Carmel), Tina Bouwman (Charlie), Jerry Ferwerda (Sylvia), Klaas Ferwerda (Carol) and Linda Horton (Dave); and her sister-in-law Joanna Jones (Donald).

In accordance with state regulations, all visitors are required to wear a face mask while inside the building and maintain social distance.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Timothy Christian Schools are appreciated.
