It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnnie Mae Stewart in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid adieu to Johnnie Mae's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Johnnie Mae has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cleveland Lewis (Gary) and Willie Ethel Lewis (Alice); her son Byron Selborne Stewart (David); her sister Dr. Mabel L. Williams (Melvin); Mary Lee Lacy (James), Grover Lewis (Edna) and Annie Greer (D. S.).
She is survived by: her child Southern University Carbondale Division of Continuing Education; and her husband Louis Selborne Stewart. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
