He is survived by: his wife Iris O'Hare; his children, Jon Empen (Margo) of Dixon, Dan Empen (Lisa) of Lake Villa, Daryl Empen (Cynthia) of Rock Island and Laurie Empen of Chicago; his stepsons, Michael O'Hare (Joni) of Stillman Valley, Tim O'Hare (Lynn) of Byron and Jim O'Hare (Kelly) of Stillman Valley; his siblings, Joe Empen of Forsyth, Ron Empen (Pat) of Winnebago, Rosemary, O. P. Empen of Footville, WI., Shirley Modjallal (Jack) of Encino, CA., Phyliss Gibson of Madison, WI. and Carol Glenn of Milledgeville; and his grandchildren, Nils, Ian Empen, Cade and Carter.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bernie's memory.
