Curtner and Fern Curtner (Kimme); his pet Emma Jean; his wife Bonnie Curtner (Hawkins); his daughters, Mary Bethel (Michael) of Godfrey, Edith Lilley (Michael) of Herbron, IN, Darlene Henke (Darren) and Jessica Riney (Sam) of Alton; his niece DeeDee O'Dell (Johnny) of Waterloo, IL; his grandchildren, Ryan Bethel (Megan), Kelsey Tomaszewski (Michael), Nicholas Bethel, Connor Jausel, Alana Jausel, Kaden Jausel, Patrick Riney and Eva Riney; his sister Dode Kaiser (Jim) of New Athens; his sister-in-law Carolyn Curtner of East Alton; his son John Terry Curtner, Jr.; and his siblings, Raymond Curtner and Rosemary McDaniel. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
