The passing of Elizabeth Marie Cope of Granite City, Illinois leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on June 7, 2025 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas D. Penney and Eunice Ray Penney (Burgess); her husband Reverend Alfred E. "Gene" Cope; her grandson Adam Cope; and her siblings, Izola, Dora, Eunice, Eva, Casa, Meta, Ray, Monte, Bruce, Lonnie and Oral.
She is survived by: her daughter Kristy; her son-in-law Eugene Coughlin of Collinsville; her sons, Gene (Tammy Cope Jr.) and Rev. Richard L. (Debbie Cope); her grandchildren, Michelle, Amy, Marissa, Jonathan, Emily, Tiffany, Tabitha, Timothy and Trevorr; and her brother Ule Penney. She is also survived by nieces; nephews; other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the City Temple (4751 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040).
