He was predeceased by: his parents, James L., Sr. and Imogene Randles Claxton; his cousin Hobert R. Glascock, Jr. of Ocala, FL; his aunts and uncles, Herschel (Willie Reeves Claxton), W. Bellfield Claxton of Nashville, TN, Wesley R. (Della Rogers Claxton), Lillian Claxton (Worth Vertrees), Clinton W. Randles of Los Angeles, CA, Mae Randles (Jack M. Stiver), Fay R. Randles of Waxahachie, TX, Grace R. Randles of McKinney, TX and Pauline Randles (Hobert R. Glascock); his parents-in-law, Carl A. and Helen Rhodes Bain of Granite City; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Bain and William R. Ford of White Hall.
He is survived by: his sons, James L. "Jay" Claxton, III and Kyle A.; his daughter-in-law Tracey Gaudette Claxton; his grandchildren, Drake E. Claxton (Sarah E Jansen) and Emily E. Claxton; his former spouse Shirley Bain Claxton; his great-nephew David M. Ford; his great-niece Sarah E. Ford; and also, Eric M. and Jackie Daniel Ford. He is also survived by her extended family; her nephew.
