Leo Paul Rios Jr. Obituary
Leo Paul Rios Jr., 63, of Granite City, Illinois, lived for the open road and passed away doing what he loved on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on September 8, 1962, in Gatesville, Texas, the son of Leo Paul Rios Sr. of Texas and the late Rosa (Garcia) Leyva.
Leo was an over-the-road truck driver for Buehler Mayflower Transportation, proudly dedicating 45 years of service to the company. He loved the freedom of the highway, the many places he visited across the United States, and the adventures that came with life on the road.
Above all, Leo was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—the steady rock of his family. He cherished his dog, Sophie, enjoyed watching football, and never missed a chance to cheer on his Dallas Cowboys. He also loved going out to eat and was always eager to try new restaurants.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his three children, Valerie Rios and Tessa Rios, both of Texas, and Samantha Rios of Granite City; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; and his loving companion and friend of sixteen years, Amanda Hearn of Granite City. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Marie Rios of Texas; two brothers, Adam (Belinda) Rios of Texas and Daniel (Heather) Leyva Jr. of Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Daniel Leyva Sr.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, with Reverend Jason Wyman officiating. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
Memorials may be made to his family.
