With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verna Magdalena Jostes (Granite City, Illinois), born in New Wells, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 27, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Schuessler and Norma Schuessler; her sisters, Elsie and Bernice; her stepmother Ester Schuessler; and her stepsiblings, Helen, Eugene and Garnett.
She is survived by: her daughter Donna Polivick Hinton (Tom); her grandchildren, John Polivick (Yasmin) and April Koehler (Roger); her great grandchildren, Lincoln, Hunter Polivick, Ella and Christa Koehler; and her stepsiblings, Cletus, Shirley and Marilynn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hope Lutheran Church (3715 Wabash Ave, Granite City, IL 62040). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
