He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Athens, and Sophia Mary Athens, Sr. (Doering); and his siblings, Marlene Curley, Vernon Athens and Frank Athens.
He is survived by : his wife Yvonne Helmig; and his close friend Jim Hall. He is also survived by his wife of 54 years and Bootsy, his little puppy and many family friends.
