He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Marie Sellers; his children, David Ernst (Belinda) of Harvel, IL, Steve Ernst (Ruth) of Hillsboro, IL, Judy Shannon (Greg) of Hillsboro, IL, Dan Ernst (Lori) of Rochester, IL and Phillip Ernst (Lora Emerson) of Hillsboro, IL; and his sister Frances Catherine Weitekamp of Raymond, IL.. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren.
