She was predeceased by : her husband Daniel E. Obiala; her parents, Thur Schmidt and Jacqueline Schmidt; and her brother Erik Schmidt. She is survived by : her children, Dan Obiala (Lynne), Mike Obiala (Kerry) and Amy Brown (Dave); her grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Jack, Catcher, Peter and Matthew; and her great grandchild Cameron. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are appreciated.
