He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Jacqueline; his children, Dennis Ritchie (late Rita), Ronald Ritchie (Kathryn), Maureen Howell (Wendell), Colleen Ritchie and Kathleen Klawunder; his parent Matas Whitman; and his siblings, Shay, Jean, Robert and Richard. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
