He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynn Thomas and Esta Banks (Verhees); his son Michael "Banksie" Banks; his sisters, Viona Mae Cooper (Rudy), Lona Banks, Gerildine Thomas (William), Helen Banks and Doris Gull (Wilbur); his nieces, Esta Morgan and Carrol Cooper; and his nephew Don Cooper.
He is survived by: his son Patrick Banks; his granddaughter Harmony Green (Kevin); his great grandchildren, Madeline and Ethan Green; and his wife Mary Boardman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
