She was predeceased by: her parents, Gustave Schmit and Gertrude Schmit (Dunst); and her siblings, Betty Perrine, Rev. Arthur Schmit and Jerome Schmit.

She is survived by: her husband Jim Cavanaugh; and her children, Kevin Cavanaugh (Michelle) of Bossier City, LA, Steve Cavanaugh (Sandy) of Kirkwood, IL, Ray Cavanaugh of Oquawka, IL, Karen Cavanaugh of West Point, IA and Diane Kavanaugh of Davenport, IA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Church and sent to the funeral home.
