He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Sr. Nero and Carmella Nero (Pontarelli); and his wife Loretta A. Nero (Bardauskas). He is survived by: his children, Reggie Nero Good and John D. Nero (Cyndi); and his grandchildren, Cameron, Colton, Avalon, Justice and Aurora.

While James courageously battled Parkinson's Disease for the last 20 years, he maintained his wonderful sense of humor and served his family as the wise and loving patriarch.
