She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Edgar and Florence Mary Marrs (DuBois). She is survived by: her husband Pastor James K. Cowan Sr.; and her children, Doris Tucker (Scott) of Georgia, Wendy Richardson of Georgia, Chandra Powless (Roger) of Georgia, James Cowan (Peggy) of Georgia, Marcy Ferguson (Kenneth) of Illinois, Joshua Cowan (Jane) of Indiana, Neta Beck (Allen) of Georgia, Natalie Campbell (Brandon) of South Carolina, Jason Cowan (Chrissy) of Pennsylvania and Jonathan Cowan (Sarah) of Colorado. She is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
