He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester, Sr. Smith and Anna Pearl Smith (Devin); and his siblings, Don Smith, Kenny Devin, Karen Armstrong and Gloria Mayfield.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen Akers; his daughters, Debbie Anderson Smith of Mt. Vernon and Terri Ray of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his granddaughter Heidi Meeks (Chris) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his great grandchild Jake Meeks; and his sisters-in-law, Carole Smith and Becca Devin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
