He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Schaffenacker and Helen Schaffenacker (Dammerman); and his sister Lois Stahl. He is survived by: his former wife Karen Sue Johnson; his wife Sue Schaffenacker of Mt. Pulaski; his children, Susan Schueler (Dean) of Edwardsville, IL and Scott Schaffenacker of Mt. Pulaski, IL; and his grandsons, Will, Ben and Nick.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran School or to the Mt. Pulaski Township Historical Society.
